OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Research Associate II to join a dynamic and innovative research team in Santa Monica, CA. This role will support cutting edge preclinical research focused on cancer immunotherapy, including CAR T cell development and solid tumor models. The Research Associate II will contribute to critical discovery and IND enabling efforts through hands on laboratory work, data analysis, and cross functional collaboration. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment advancing impactful therapies for patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Culture, perform quality control (QC), and cell banking of diverse solid tumor cell lines.
• Engineer, culture, and characterize CAR T cell function in vitro.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures including ddPCR, qPCR, flow cytometry, Luminex/MSD (ELISA), and cell based immunoassays.
• Design and execute hypothesis driven or fit for purpose experiments to support research and development objectives.
• Analyze, interpret, and translate experimental results into actionable insights.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental design and results (experience with Benchling a plus).
• Communicate research plans and findings effectively through oral presentations and written documentation.
• Coordinate across multiple projects and collaborate with cross functional teams to support ongoing research initiatives.
• Support timeline driven Pre IND/IND activities and contribute to program advancement.
• Contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and team focused research culture.
EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant industry or academic experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant industry or academic experience.
• Preferred:
o BS with 6+ years or MS with 3+ years of experience in cell biology and/or immunology.
o Hands on experience in the CAR T field strongly preferred.
o Experience with primary T cell isolation, culture, and functional assays (e.g., cytotoxicity, proliferation, xCELLigence/eSight).
o Proficiency in multicolor flow cytometry and associated data analysis tools (FACSDiva, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Excel).
o Experience with ex vivo CAR T manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong experience in experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation with high attention to detail.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related scientific discipline required.
