R&D Technician II

OVERVIEW
We are currently searching for a skilled professional to join a well-known client’s team as a Research & Engineering Laboratory Technician in San Diego, California. The Research & Engineering Laboratory Technician will perform a variety of laboratory and engineering functions supporting the development, testing, and optimization of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems. Their work will have a direct impact on product development and innovation, making this an exciting career opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Perform laboratory and engineering functions across electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, and/or optical domains 
•    Build and assemble prototype materials, components, subassemblies, and assemblies 
•    Construct, operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, maintain, and test equipment, systems, and products 
•    Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions 
•    Conduct testing, analyze data, and prepare technical reports 
•    Support the development and review of processing and manufacturing instructions 
•    Maintain detailed and accurate documentation throughout all phases of development, testing, and analysis 
•    Ensure compliance with corporate and divisional policies and procedures 
•    Assist with technology transfer activities as needed 
•    Participate in cross-functional discussions related to device performance and investigations 

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 1–4 years of relevant laboratory or engineering experience required
Hands-on experience in building, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical or electro-mechanical systems preferred
Experience working with schematics, engineering drawings, and lab equipment required
Experience with data analysis and technical reporting preferred

EDUCATION
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline required
