OVERVIEW
We are currently searching for a skilled professional to join a well-known client’s team as a Histotechnician in Ridgebury, Connecticut. This role will support discovery and translational research by executing and optimizing histology and tissue-based assays. The successful candidate will play a key role in generating high-quality data to advance scientific programs, making this an exciting and impactful career opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform routine histology laboratory tasks, including tissue processing, embedding, microtome sectioning, slide preparation, and coverslipping in accordance with SOPs
• Develop, optimize, and execute histopathology assays, including H&E, special stains, and IHC/ISH-based methods
• Design, execute, and maintain multiplex tissue-based assays (e.g., multiplex IHC/IF), ensuring robustness, reproducibility, and high data quality
• Support daily laboratory operations, including sample intake and tracking, reagent preparation, inventory management, and workflow coordination
• Perform routine quality control (QC) of tissue sections, staining procedures, and digital images; document deviations and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology instrumentation (e.g., automated stainers, microtomes, slide scanners); coordinate servicing as needed
• Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records, SOPs, and assay documentation in compliance with internal quality and safety standards
• Communicate results clearly to cross-functional teams; contribute to data summaries, troubleshooting efforts, and project discussions
EXPERIENCE
Hands-on experience with histology techniques (tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining) required
Experience developing and executing histopathology assays, including IHC and/or ISH, required
Experience with multiplex tissue-based assays (e.g., multiplex IHC/IF) strongly preferred
Experience supporting laboratory operations in a research or clinical environment required
Strong understanding of assay quality control, reproducibility, and documentation standards required
EDUCATION
Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biology, Histotechnology, Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline required
