OVERVIEW
We are currently searching for a skilled professional to join a well-known client’s team as a Histotechnician in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The Histotechnician will support laboratory operations by preparing high-quality tissue samples for analysis, performing staining procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation and quality control. Their work will have a direct impact on research outcomes and diagnostic support, making this an excellent career opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform tissue fixation, processing, and embedding of biological specimens
• Section tissue samples using microtomy techniques to produce high-quality slides
• Conduct routine staining, special staining, and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence (IHC/IF) procedures
• Perform whole slide scanning for digital analysis and recordkeeping
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Ensure adherence to quality control standards and accurate documentation of all laboratory procedures
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements
• Collaborate with pathologists and research scientists to support ongoing projects
• Manage workload effectively in a high-volume laboratory environment
EXPERIENCE
Hands-on experience in histology laboratory techniques required
Demonstrated expertise in microtomy and FFPE tissue block sectioning required
Experience with staining techniques, including IHC/IF, required
Experience working in a high-throughput laboratory environment preferred
EDUCATION
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field required
CERTIFICATIONS
ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL), or eligibility to obtain certification required
